Concentrated in the hills of eastern Nepal are a number of tribes of basically Mongoloid race, known collectively as the Rais, who speak closely related, although mutually unintelligible languages belonging to the Tibeto-Burman family. The Rais constitute one of the most important, and perhaps oldest, ethnic components in the population of the region. This book is about one of these tribes, the Kulunge Rais.
