While I was a Ph.D. student, I perceived the lack of a book or an article providing basic information on mitochondria, mitochondrial DNA, mitochondrial DNA damage, and different systems that tackle damage inflicted to the mitochondrial genome. This book, therefore, has been prepared with an intention to fill that void and to provide the aforementioned information to the reader.
