The great Indian Monk Vivekananda had an overall mission for the world.To unite humanity under a universal religion,the fundamentals of which would be provided by Advaita,which will include all existing religions and will be scientific. But a short life did not let him to do so.In the afermath of the First world War,thinkers like Romain Rolland were attracted to him because of his ideas.Rolland therefore presented the theme and it's various aspects seperately in the second part of his bigraphy of Vivekananda to underline it's importance. A second world war has meanwhile happened with more disastrous results:and the millineum three is witnessing the worst kind of horrors perpetrated by essentially religion-based terrorism-which raises the relevance of hsi thinking once again.We may find his thesis useful in the present difficul times.
