This book is the result of the Kathmandu Valley Preservation Trust's (KVPT) Review Mission, which took place from August 20 to September 16, 2016. The mission's purpose was to document the KVPT's ongoing repair and restoration projects, which were started right away after the 2015 earthquake, as well as its ongoing work to develop a comprehensive earthquake response strategy and master plan for the Patan Darbar Square Unesco World Heritage Site. This presentation, which is 16 months after the earthquake, is influenced by local policy and activism changes as well as KVPT's substantial and effective rescue efforts, a rare glimmer of optimism in the still challenging circumstances.
