Miracle is the fictionalized account of my late nephew, my late brother’s eldest son. He was born with a genetic disorder for which there was no cure. He was a child of great beauty, and more important, beauty of spirit. In the very short time of twelve years that he got to spend with us, he taught us life lessons in unconditional love, friendship, inclusiveness, generosity of spirit, and last but not the least, the power of an effervescent smile. This fictionalized account presents the ten beautiful years that I got to spend with the child, and this association enriched me in mind and spirit. The lessons that he taught us weren’t immediately apparent to us, caught as were in the emotion of the moment, and dealing with our little bundle of joy. Only after he passed away did the full import of the purpose of his life, and the important life lessons he taught us dawned on us, particularly me.
The child couldn’t even speak, and this book is an attempt to give a voice to our little angel, and in the process getting to know his perspective. His dramatic reappearance is presented in Part I titled Homecoming, his perspectives in Part II titled Revelations, and his life lessons are presented in Part III of the book titled Gospel. I hope the book enriches the reader in mind and spirit. This book is dedicated to all specially-abled children.
