Headway English is need based series of books specially designed for Nepal . The series adopts an eclectic approach that gears towards students' fluency and accuracy of English. An attempt therefore, has been made to combine the modern approaches to the extent it is feasible in the Nepalese context. 
On the one hand there is an endeavour to integrate the four language skills, viz: listening, speaking, reading and writing. On the other hand, formal grammar is also introduced. The reason for this being that 'grammar' does form an essential part specially in a second language learning situation. Grammar is taught more to make students use it appropriately in oral and written communication.
