Dr. Jayandra Bahadur Shrestha is a visionary engineer, educator and social development leader whose career spans over four decades of impactful service in Nepal and abroad. Born in 1964, he began his journey in civil engineering before pivoting to computer engineering, becoming the first Nepali student at Hawaii Pacific College in the United States. His early professional success in technology was soon followed by a return to Nepal, where he pioneered private education in rural Sindhupalchok by founding Jyugal Boarding High School (JBHS) and the district's first computer institute-landmarks that transformed access to quality education and digital literacy in the region.
Dr. Shrestha holds a Master's in Education and earned the first-ever PhD in Education awarded by Tribhuvan University, reflecting his deep commitment to academic excellence. His leadership roles have included serving as Founder Principal at JBHS, Education Coordinator for Norplan A.S., Norway (Consultant for Melamchi Water Supply Project), Member Secretary of the Social Welfare Council, and Campus Chief at Orbit International College. A recipient of the prestigious Prabal Gorkha Dakshin Bahu honor, Dr. Shrestha is recognized for his lifelong dedication to community upliftment, educational reform, and cross-cultural engagement; shaped by his travels to nearly two dozen countries and a personal story that bridges Nepal and abroad. Dr. Shrestha is married to Waryunah, an Indonesian national. They have one son, Bijayandra, and a daughter-in-law, Neha.
