All the stories in this delightful collection originate from those narrated by Scheherazade to her eccentric husband, Sultan Shahryar. The Sultan had his first wife executed because of her infidelity. After that, concluding that all women are unfaithful, he married and killed each new bride the day after the wedding. When he married Scheherazade, she cleverly told him an engrossing story each night but left it incomplete. The Sultan did not kill her because he was curious to know the end of the story. This continued for 11 nights, after which he fell in love with her and her life was spared. Each story in this wonderful collection is full of magic, romance and adventure, and has been handpicked from the world renowned Arabian Nights or One Thousand and One Nights, collected over the years by various authors, translators and scholars across the Middle East and South Asia.
