The book Critical Approach to Nepali Language, Literature and Culture is an in-depth, research-based text providing a multidisimensional critique of the Nepali intellectual and literary sphere. It is broadly classified into two different sections, where the first section opens up a dialogue of Eastern and Western philosophies of literature by taking in depth look into ethnocultural and sociological descriptions of the mythicography of Limbu oral traditions (Mundhum and Palam), original identity of Madhesh and etymological description of the eastern rivers such as Mechi and Koshi, and also into critical socio-political descriptions such as evolution of the Dalit consciousness in the Hindu social framework and the interplay between state-power, media and the creativity.
The second section, on the other hand, comes in as an analytic tribute to the literary pursuit of pioneer Nepali intellectuals. This section analyses iconic Nepali writers, poets and lyricists ranging from linguistic contribution of Prof. Balakrishna Pokharel to critical analysis by Dadhiraj Subedi in relation to selected writings by Banira Giri, Devkumari Thapa, Parashu Pradhan, Ganesh Rasik, Ramman Trishit, Prembinod Nandan and Krishna Pahari and intermingles them with cultural anthropology, history and theory of literature, so as to form an indispensable book for all critics and academic scholars.
