भानुभक्त आचार्यका रचनाहरू नेपाली भाषासाहित्य मा अग्रणी रूपमा रहेका छन् । उनले आफ्नो वैयक्तिक प्रतिभाका कारणले नै रामायण लेख्न सफल भए । 'अध्यात्म रामायण' अनुवाद भएर पनि यस कृतिलाई भानुभक्तले मौलिक रूपमा प्रस्तुत गरे । भानुभक्तअघिका नेपाली कविले नेपाली भाषासाहित्यलाई यति सहज, सरल र मौलिक रूपबाट प्रस्तुत गर्न सकेका थिएनन् । त्यसैले भानुभक्तकृत रामायणलाई नै नेपाली भाषासाहित्यको पहिलो महाकाव्य पनि भनिन्छ ।
