Jung Yun was born in South Korea, raised in North Dakota, and has lived in New York, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, and most recently, Baltimore, Maryland, where she currently resides. Her short fiction has appeared in Tin House, The Best of Tin House: Stories, The Indiana Review, and The Massachusetts Review.
Her second novel, O Beautiful, was published by St. Martin's in 2021. It was named an Editor's Choice by The New York Times and Amazon. Her first novel, Shelter (Picador, 2016), was an Amazon Best Book of the Month selection in two categories (Literature/Fiction and Mysteries/Thrillers/Suspense), a Barnes & Noble Discover Great New Writers selection, an Indie Next selection, an Apple iBooks' Best Books of the Month selection, and a Goodreads Best Books of the Month selection. It was also long-listed for the Center for Fiction's First Novel Prize, a semi-finalist for Good Reads' Best Fiction Book of 2016, and a finalist for the 2016 Barnes & Noble Discover Great New Writers Program.
