Dr. Jagat Kumar Bhusal

Dr. Jagat Kumar Bhusal was born on 12 November 1951 in Pokharchaur, Shankar Pokhari, Parbat, Nepal, the second son of Mr. Tika Ballav Bhusal and Mrs. Chandrakala Bhusal. Currently, a resident of Baneswor, Kathmandu, married to Bishnu Kumari Bhusal. They have three daughters- Kalpana, Bandana, and Miluna.

He received his school education in Parbat, Undergraduate science education in Pokhara, Graduate in Kathmandu (TU), PG course from Hungary, has two master's degrees from India (Andhra University & Roorkee university), Bachelor Diploma in Law from Nepal and Doctorate degree (Climate change & irrigation water) from TU, Kathmandu. He has also received training in the river and dam engineering course from Japan. He has published more than sixty papers in peer-reviewed journals, in proceedings, and in daily newspapers. He has participated and presented papers in various international conferences and seminars.

He has worked for more than three decades in the field of hydrology for the government of Nepal. He has provided technical input on topics related to hydrological science related to water-induced disasters, limnology, Siwalik hydrology, hydropower, irrigation, road and bridge and drinking water. He has served as the Chairman of the Electricity Tariff Fixation Commission of Nepal, and as an investigator in the Mountain EVO and Landslide EVO research program in Nepal. He is ex-Chairman of the Society of Hydrologists and Meteorologists-Nepal and ex-member Secretary of the International Hydrological Program, Nepal National Committee.
