Sumnima Theatre Academy Nepal was established in the year 1992 at Chisapani-7, Pathibhara, Khotang in Nepal. The founders of this organization are Praveen Puma, Jirman Rai, Santoshi Rai, Kalumal Rai and Renuka Rai. This academy was also registered in Lalitpur District Administration Office in 2009. Its registration number is 3030/319 while Social Welfare Council's registration number is 29286. The founders of this organization are President Praveen Puma, Vice President Bindia Rai, Secretary Dipendra Rai, Treasurer Kalpana Rai, Members Khagindra Rai, Jyoti Rai, Kishore Rai, Gautam Rai and Ishwar Rai. Sumnima Theatre Academy Nepal (1992 AD) has been studying and researching various marginalized cultural issues since its establishment through the theatrical performance. This academy has performed more than a dozen of dramas like Sumnima-Paruhang (1992/2014), Sumnima (1993/National Drama Festival-2015, Govt. of Nepal), Ninamma (1994), Minma (1995), Hetchhakuppa (1997/2017), Syamuna (2000), Euta Gharako Katha Hoina (Eastern Regional Drama Competition-2002, Govt. of Nepal), Yalambar (Western Regional Drama Competition, 2006/National Drama Festival, 2006, Govt. of Nepal), Astha: Mundumko (2008), Smriti (2012/2018/2023), Damla (2013) etc at local, regional and national levels. Likewise, this academy has also published books named Sumnima (Dramatic Anthology, 1996), Henkhama-Ninamma (Mythical Anthology, 1997 /2010), Sumnima-Paruhang (Dramatic Anthology, 2007), Hetchhakuppa (Drama, 2009), Ninamma (Drama, 2011), Saya (Dramatic Anthology, 2012), Hongchha (Dramatic Anthology, 2013) in Nepali language. Similarly, since 2015, Sumnima Theater Academy has been awarding Sumnima Theater Awards to individuals or organizations who have made special contributions to theater along with this honor Rs. 5,555.
