About the Book
Majipa Lakhe is a central character of newari folk art. He is the key character of 'Indra Jatra' celebrated every year. Even though he was from evil clan, for some special reason, it was believed that he showed sympathy and rescued men in trouble and became their favorite Lakhe (Devil). The play Majipa Lakhe is based on love story of this unique character. A daughter of a farmer Balamaicha falls in love with him who can accomplish herculean tasks in a matter of second. This on one side created loving and harmonious environment but on the other side villagers are terrified. The play portrays a beautiful love story that ends on a happy note after the union of human and devil which fulfill the gap between these two clans.
